BHW Bayerische Heilmittel Wissenschaften GmbH is pleased to announce the upcoming launch of the BASIRA“ (بَصِيرَة) – an acronym for Bavarian Sciences and Innovative Radiation, and a word in Arabic meaning Insight or Vision — a forward-looking program set to begin in Q1 2026, with the mission of advancing precision radiotherapy and translational oncoscience across Egypt and the broader MENA region.
A preliminary understanding agreement has been concluded between BHW and Xstrahl GmbH, the UK-based manufacturer of world-class superficial and orthovoltage radiotherapy systems, to support the installation of a prototype module at the planned Radiation Clinic — the first center to operate under BHW’s OncoScience Business Unit and the BASIRA framework in Egypt.
At the heart of this collaboration is the Xstrahl 200 system, an advanced radiotherapy platform designed for the treatment of both benign and malignant conditions. The technology has been widely recognized for its precision, safety, and versatility in treating dermatological malignancies, skin cancers, keloids, and select palliative indications in orthopaedic and oncologic care.
The final clinic location in Egypt is currently under review, with major oncology and academic institutions expressing interest in hosting the pilot unit.
Beyond the technical installation, the BASIRA Initiative aims to:
- Foster clinical training for Egyptian radiation specialists
- Introduce evidence-based protocols for Xstrahl system utilization
- Promote public-private partnerships in oncology infrastructure
- Build a regional reference and education center for radiotherapy
BHW and Xstrahl are working closely with local and regional experts, including leading oncologists and physicists, to ensure the highest standards of safety, effectiveness, and clinical impact.
This partnership is another milestone in BHW’s broader mission to integrate science-based health innovation with real-world access, bridging European precision with local medical needs.
